Making Five Good Things from some not so good things

Saturday morning, I drove my "back up" truck. My truck was named Cochise more than ten years ago by friends of mine. Cochise was my first major purchase after divorce; and I sure loved that truck. On the way home, Cochise overheated just like my "real" car. I pulled off to a side street and walked home, figuring to go later, fill the radiator and drive him home. But....making a long story short, after I walked home, Cochise burst into flames and exploded. There's nothing left of him; even the windows are melted. I'm pretty sad about this loss...not to mention currently having no car.

But! this seems timely, no?
  • I was not inside when Cochise exploded
  • No one was hurt; they could well have been
  • I will save lots of money riding the bus, it's the right thing to do anyway
  • I will get lots of knitting done while I ride the bus
  • This provides me an opportunity to take some direction in my life and answer some questions that have lingered for long

Occasionally we must be propelled into change. I think the Universal 2 X 4 hasn't been working in my case and so an explosion was necessary. I have loads of thinking to do; and contemplating one's life is always a good thing - how does it go? Something about the unexamined life not being worth living? So now, I get to examine my life. Wish me luck.

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry! I'm glad you weren't hurt, but how frustrating and scary! I hope things get better for you soon.

I'm glad you weren't in the truck when it blew up and I don't even know you! It's too scary a thing to want to happen to anyone. My worst car story was when the car I was driving had brake failure. There's no feeling quite like being in this moving car with no way to stop! But I contacted you to ask if I can introduce you to a book. I wrote "Outcasts Of Skagaray" because I felt strongly about the abandoned children of the world. It is a fantasy adventure with strong female as well as male characters. If you feel like a preview, go to www.threeswans.com.au and see the sample chapters. The second of the two introduces you to Shenoa and Shanomie, facing a crisis which threatens life.
I would be delighted if you read and enjoyed it, but in any event, best wishes. My blog is http://threeswans.blogspot.com if you feel like stopping by.

As corny as it sounds Lee, this is an opportunity to take some time to reevaluate where you are and where you want to be.

So glad you weren't hurt. Leave it to you to find something good in all this. I don't know if I could be that strong.....

Lee, I'm so very grateful that you weren't hurt. You are very lucky to have the bus as an alternative mode of transport. Here in Smalltown Nova Scotia, we have no such luxury!!.
hugs,
Heather

You take lemon and make lemonade, Lee. After crying and bemoaning yoru loss - rightfully - you got to see the potential for something new.

We get too attached to things. I ride buses and trains 80% of the time and I get so much reading done and lift snatches of conversation for my writing.

You're a survivor and are able to roll with the punches.

Right on!
